    Bazhov (Bakheev) Pavel Petrovich (1879-1950) - writer, publicist, journalist. IN  Ust-Kamenogorsk  East Kazakhstan region  P. Bazhov arrived in July 1919 with the aim of restoring the strength of the depleted Bolshevik cells. “Not everyone knows that Pavel Petrovich lived and worked in Ust-Kamenogorsk in 1919-1921. Thanks to his initiative, the first Peasant University in the republic was created, 87 Kazakh teachers were trained and sent to schools. Bazhov liked to repeat that "Kazakh children should be taught by Kazakh teachers." Observing life, the peculiar way of life of the Old Believers, the mood of the workers of the Ridder mine, the life of the Altai peasants, I was going to write

an autobiographical story (its outline plan is now kept in the house-museum of P. P. Bazhov in Yekaterinburg). The impressions received during this period were conveyed in his works.

    In Ust-Kamenogorsk, with the active participation of Bazhov, an orphanage for Kazakh orphans was opened. IN  Ust-Kamenogorsk , on the house where in 1919-1920. Pavel Petrovich Bazhov edited and published the newspaper "News of the Ust-Kamenogorsk District Revolutionary Committee", a memorial plaque was installed.
